Meet Emily

Hi! My name is Emily Goulazian. If you've landed on this page, you're likely in search of voice lessons and faced with the challenging task of selecting a voice teacher. This decision isn't taken lightly; you're entrusting someone not only with your educational journey but also with your personal growth. Pursuing music, acting, or any performing art demands a level of vulnerability and comfort. As someone who has experienced my fair share of voice teachers, I understand this journey intimately. Some of my favorite teachers have provided me with a safe space to explore, share myself, and open up without judgment. I strive to offer the same supportive environment for my students. This page will hopefully give you the opportunity to get to know me a little better and aid you in your decision-making process.

How it all began…

Picture this: a pint-sized Emily filled to the brim with big dreams and an even bigger imagination. From the moment I could string a sentence together, I was the mastermind behind a whirlwind of creative chaos. Singing, storytelling, and orchestrating epic productions right in my living room. As the self-appointed actor-director-producer-designer extraordinaire, I wore many hats (quite literally, too). And who were my unsuspecting stars? None other than my poor, patient brothers, roped into playing whatever roles I dreamt up. As for my parents? They were my captive audience, front row center, cheering me on through every improvised masterpiece. Ah, the memories!

Well…let's just say my parents and brothers were probably counting down the days until I took my creative endeavors elsewhere. Cue my grand debut into the world of community theater and dance! Surprising, considering I was actually quite shy as a kid. But there's something about stepping onto a stage that transforms even the most timid of souls, right? It was like discovering my superpower – suddenly, my personality could shine as bright as the lights on that stage!

The turning point in my childhood came when my elementary school music teacher saw something special in me. She recognized my passion for the performing arts and took the initiative to speak with my mom about it. Thanks to her recommendation, I began private voice lessons with a well regarded teacher in the area. It was a pivotal moment that set me on the path to pursue my dreams with unwavering determination. Weekly voice lessons became my sanctuary, where I discovered immense growth and newfound confidence under my teacher's guidance. With personalized attention and tailored instruction, I found the tools to expand my skills and embrace my talents fully. Through this journey, I learned the power of dedication and the transformative impact of mentorship on my artistic journey.

Fast forward…

Fast forward about a decade filled with some of the most incredible and life-changing experiences one could imagine... Here I am, on this webpage, sharing my story with all of you. After studying voice, acting, and theater in college, I made the leap to New York City. In this vibrant city, I've had the opportunity to perform to my heart's content and connect with countless like-minded individuals. I've always believed that the best way to enrich my journey is by connecting with others who share my passion, which is why you've found your way here! I hope you can find just as much satisfaction studying with me as I will with you.

So, why do I teach?

I teach because it gives me the special opportunity to impact you as I have been impacted by my own teachers and peers. It allows me to guide you through a similar journey—a journey that has greatly enriched my life and shaped who I am today.

The dream begins, most of the time, with a teacher who believes in you, who tugs and pushes and leads you on to the next plateau, sometimes poking you with a sharp stick called truth.

Just don’t give up trying to do what you really want to do. Where there’s love and inspiration, I don’t think you can go wrong.
— Ella Fitzgerald
The one thing that you have that nobody else has is you. Your voice, your mind, your story, your vision. So write and draw and build and play and dance and live as only you can.
— Neil Gaiman

Now, I want to hear your story. Let’s set up a time to chat over a free consultation to see how we can work together. If you are making the decision on a purchase, I hope this has helped you move forward in your journey. I cannot wait to meet you!
